Licensed in Michigan and Illinois Joshua A. Lee is an experienced attorney and business owner with more than two decades of legal practice in both Illinois and Michigan. Since founding his firm in 2001, Joshua has built a multi-disciplinary practice representing clients in criminal, civil, administrative, and real estate matters, earning a reputation for thorough preparation, practical problem-solving, and dedicated client advocacy.
Over the course of his career, Joshua has handled more than 1,000 traffic and DUI matters, represented clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal cases, and successfully secured over 100 criminal expungements. He has also appeared in formal and informal driver’s license reinstatement hearings and represented individuals before the Illinois Prison Review Board. His criminal defense work spans a wide range of charges, including assault, theft, drug possession, weapons offenses, and other complex matters.
In addition to criminal law, Joshua has extensive civil litigation experience. He has represented clients in breach of contract disputes, landlord-tenant forcible actions, dissolution of marriage proceedings, and administrative hearings. He is particularly proud of his advocacy on behalf of individuals seeking professional license restoration and applicants denied employment opportunities due to background investigations—successfully helping several clients achieve reinstatement and pursue careers in law enforcement.
Real estate law has been a significant component of his practice. Joshua is a licensed real estate broker in both Illinois and Michigan and a licensed title agent in Illinois. He has handled more than 100 residential real estate transactions, along with multiple commercial deals, bringing a business-minded and detail-oriented approach to every closing.
Joshua earned his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School, graduating in the top 20% of his class. He was a member of Law Review, received two academic scholarships, earned the prestigious CALI Award for highest achievement in Contract Law, and was named to the Dean’s List every semester. He also served as a recruitment representative and was the only student member of the adjunct faculty committee. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Advertising, with an emphasis in business and marketing, from Michigan State University.
While in law school, Joshua gained valuable experience through internships in housing discrimination prosecution, post-conviction innocence advocacy, employment-based immigration law, and complex litigation. Earlier in his career, he achieved significant success in advertising sales and business development, consistently ranking among top performers and exceeding sales quotas—experience that continues to inform his entrepreneurial and client-focused approach to law.
Joshua remains deeply committed to community service. He has volunteered as a staff attorney at the Cook County Expungement Exposition, assisting individuals seeking to clear their criminal records, and has helped process applications for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) relief. He also supports local community organizations, including the Bay Community Tennis Association.
After nearly 25 years practicing law in the Chicago area, Joshua returned home to Bay City, Michigan, where he was raised. Being sworn into the Michigan Bar in Bay County marked a meaningful milestone in his career, reflecting both his professional dedication and personal commitment to the community he proudly calls home. Joshua brings experience, integrity, and a strong sense of public service to every matter he handles.
